🙌 PRODUCT LEADERSHIP

At Vevo, I led the product team after a company pivot where I partnered with leadership to establish cross-functional product squads, defined the right amount of process, and created a strong product culture both internally and externally.

• Vevo + Music Label Workshops: We went on a roadshow for our key label partners (Universal Music, Sony, etc.) and closely partnered with them through workshops which enabled us to better understand their needs so we could build a new music video distribution and promotion platform.

💗 PRODUCT LOVE

At NerdWallet, I led the discovery and delivery of best-in-class financial tools and marketplaces. By deeply listening to customers and a whole lot of experimentation, we differentiated and improved our products to solve real problems. Through customer obsession, we were able to dethrone incumbent competitors and rank as the #1 search result for top keywords.

• NerdWallet Investing & Retirement: NerdWallet’s mission is to provide clarity for all of life’s financial decisions. After finding product market fit with helping consumers pick the best credit cards, here’s an overview of how we decided to tackle major life goals and move into new growth markets for investing and retirement and a deep dive of the retirement product build.

  • I led the development of the NerdWallet retirement calculator which was written up by LifeHacker and other publications and is the #1 result on Google for “retirement calculator” searches.
    
    
    

• Home Affordability Calculator: Led the product build from zero-to-one and attained the #1 search result for top mortgage keyword searches which made it the highest trafficked page on NerdWallet and a major driver for membership signups.

🚀 PRODUCT GROWTH

At Vevo, I led our thumbnail optimization efforts by working closely with internal cross-functional teams and our music label partners to grow views by over 12% and sustaining growth at scale by more than 15%. We were so successful that we got written up by Variety on our efforts! 

At Redfin, I managed a complete re-write and redesign of the Agent Search and Contact Experience: Agent Search, Agent Directory, Agent Profiles which improved conversion by 30%.

🤔 Product DISCOVERY

At Vevo, I led multiple workshops across a variety of problem spaces with both internal and external stakeholders to ensure that we all had a shared understanding of the problems we were trying to solve. I helped build a culture of an idea meritocracy through these sprints and workshops and created a toolkit that other leaders across the company used with their own teams!

• Advertising Experience Strategy Sprint: After a company pivot, the Product and Engineering team began to support Sales for the very first time, and so we met to understand their strategy and needs so we could create a dedicated product squad and resource them accordingly.
  

• Playlist Strategy Sprint: We brought a cross-functional team together from across the globe to create a strategy around developing programmatic and human-curated playlists. This was a game-changer in building trust with our Content and Programming team, who were resistant to change and skeptical of automation and technology.

🌔 PRODUCT MOONSHOT

NerdWallet Hackathon Pitch: After listening to a talk from Rory Sutherland, I began thinking about the problem of saving money. Why was it so easy to impulse spend with a credit card, yet so difficult to impulse save? My hypothesis was that if we could find a way to make saving money trigger a dopamine release in the same way that spending it did, we might be able to get people to save more. To explore this, I led a small cross-functional team that hacked an Amazon Dash button that could stash money from your checking to your savings account with a single button push, and would surprise you with a reward. We won the top hackathon prize and pushed everyone to think bigger with our moonshot idea.

👩🏻‍💼 ABOUT

Angela (she/her) is a creative product and business professional who kick-started her career in San Francisco and is now based out of Southern California. Angela’s passion for everything digital started off with her immersion into the web during the early days. In her youth, she was the webmaster (one might say product manager or founder in today’s lingo) of many sites for businesses, schools, and organizations.

Her first real job was working at the Apple Store, where she chatted with thousands of customers to understand their needs and recommend the best technology solutions to improve their lives. This shaped her ethos around customer obsession and leveraging technology to help people live better lives.

Since then, she has built her career as a product manager creating great products with great people while learning and having a lot of fun along the way!
